We are coming up on our third anniversary for the Ruth Mini Mobile Library. I always like to wrap up with some end of the year announcements. The Library will be closed starting November 1, 2019, and will reopen when it’s safe to be out in public.
Our mobile library has grown so much in two years. We have given away 6,000+ books so far. Thank you for all your support.
One of the best books I received was a 1937 edition of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and a 1950 edition of Leaves of Grass. Can you believe that someone was going to throw these books away in the trash? It’s heartbreaking, to say the least.
When I started my mobile library, I never thought it would get so big so fast. It’s hard to fathom what 500 books even looks like, and luckily I took a picture.
Several people have asked me why I’m doing this, and my answer is simple: I love books, I love free stuff, and I love giving away free books. I want to make sure that no one ever has an excuse not to be reading.
I started my mobile library with $5 and 5 books, and it’s been very successful so far. We are thankful for the support and donations we have received.
