Movie Review: The Internship

I don’t normally watch movies with Owen Wilson by choice, but there’s something about Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson together that allows me to stomach them for a short period of time. This is just another cute, feel-good comedy which every once in a while we need. I particularly loved this movie because Dylan O’ Brien is in the movie. He later went onto to star in the Maze Runner trilogy after this. I found this movie relatable because I know the feeling first hand of being in a collective group of misfits.

A lot of people remarked that The Internship was really an advertisement to work for Google. This tactic is nothing new. Jurrasic Park is notorious for its heavy use of advertisements. In this instance, I don’t think that advertising to work for Google is necessarily a bad thing. The fact that the film crosses the line between advertisement and entertainment is what gives it such a low score. Vince Vaughn is a bit over the top with the dialogue, and it borders on cheesy rather than funny.

You’d be surprised to know that you can show a strip club scene in a film that’s rated PG 13. I’ve noticed a lot more swearing being allowed too. I don’t mind it, but I remember how made parents would get whenever that happened.

I really liked the scene where each had to come up with an app. I’ve always wanted to create an app and they make it look easier. It looks really fun to work at Google, but I’m a nerd so what’s fun to me might be incredibly boring to you.

If you watch Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson movies on a regular basis then I think you will enjoy this film. It’s one of those films that is just okay. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either.

My Score: 5/10

Roger Waters: US + THEM Concert San Antonio

(Roger Waters in San Antonio. Saturday, July 1, 2017)

I haven’t been to a concert in a few weeks, and I was really excited to go to this one because as my dad said: “This is the closest you will ever get to seeing the real Pink Floyd.” It was an amazing show. I’ve been to over 50 concerts, and I’ve never seen anything quite so spectacular. I even saw The Who a while back and even though The Who was amazing, Roger Waters put on a show. This show was very special to me because it was the third concert after my dad got out of the hospital. Normally by this time of year, we would have gone to about 6 or 7 concerts. I’ve always gone to concerts with my dad since I was little and I was little worried that he wouldn’t be able to do it anymore. We both had a blast even though we couldn’t be as close as we usually are. My dad has always said that “if you aren’t in the front row then what’s the point in going?” To a certain extent, he’s right, but I’m glad he came around. I love that I still get to spend time with my dad, but his health is important to me and I know how it important it is that he takes things slow and easy. Since my birthday is later on this month, this was quite possibly the best birthday gift I’ve ever gotten. Now that we are going to fewer concerts, it allows me to get better prepared for the next one which I believe is Green Day. I know we are also going to Katy Perry in January.

Butcher Babies at Alamo City Music Hall (AKA Back Stage Live)

September 1, 2015

This was our very first Butcher Babies concert. This show was quite an amazing experience. I took over 250 pictures and only a handful of them came out good. I wish I had taken my nice camera, but these were all taken on my iPhone 6. I did edit them on photoshop, but just to adjust the lighting and add my watermark. It’s been a long time since we’ve been to a concert that wasn’t at an arena or stadium. Every now and then, we go to bars and local concert halls to check out some new music. It can get a little rowdy at their concerts, but it’s all in good fun. The Butcher Babies always put on a great show and their music is something you can listen over and over again. After meeting them at the mall and seeing them perform, you can tell that they genuinely love their fans and truly appreciate their support. They say it’s tough to meet famous people, and I definitely felt like they will get bigger as time goes on.

I highly recommend them.

meet greet

Meet and Greet Butcher Babies San Antonio, Texas

I attended the Meet and Greet for the Butcher Babies at F.Y.E in San Antonio, Texas before heading to the show later that night. My dad gave them some of his personal customized guitar picks and the band loved them. They signed his CD and the band was super nice. You can tell that they genuinely love their fans because of the way they were interacting with everyone. You could tell they wanted to stay longer, but they needed to get ready for the show.

“I love the Butcher Babies because they represent female empowerment. If you want to be a lead singer in a metal band, do it. There’s nothing you can’t do.” – My Dad

This was a long time coming, and we waited in line for 30 minutes just to spend one minute with them. Even though there was a long line it was well worth it to meet the band because not many bands would go the mall and take pictures and autograph stuff for their fans. The band really chill and down to earth. They don’t act famous or anything they are just regular people. I wish I could dye my hair like Heidi and Carla do. They always look so awesome on stage.

My dad had a blast at both the meet and greet and at the concert especially since he has had to tone it down a little bit because of his health. That won’t ever stop him from enjoying a good concert. I even bought my dad a ton of merchandise from the Butcher Babies for his birthday because he loves them so much. I would highly recommend their albums especially their cover album. They just have a really good sound and always put on a great show.
